The mid Eisack Valley / Val d'Isarco begins at a warm, southerly 500 meters above sea-level near Klausen/Chiusa, directly at the bed of the Eisack River. Vineyards and chestnut tree groves dominate the landscape. Farther up, the gently rolling mid-altitude plateau is to be found, a peaceful landscape dotted by churches, historic fortresses, and picturesque villages.
High above it all, at an elevation of 2,500 meters above sea-level, the Sarentine Alps and the extensive Villanders/Villandro Meadow are found on the one side of the valley. On the other side, the Dolomites begin.

Easy hiking trails and bike paths, chestnut tree groves, ancient fortresses, and monasteries connect the three villages. And above it all towers the Villanders/Villandro Meadow, one of the largest Alpine meadows of Europe.|
|Lajen/Laion: This town is located at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea-level, on the slopes of the left-hand side of the valley. Here, the fresh mountain air is carried over directly from the Dolomites, which loom near. Legendary mountain resort areas like the Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi, the Gröden Valley / Val Gardena, and the Villnoess Valley / Val Venosta are within easy reach.|
